A 23-year-old man was heading west on Wilmington Road on May 31 when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. The impact caused the man to be thrown from the car. Officials believe that the man was speeding when he lost control of the car.

The vehicle flipped and rolled over multiple times before striking the tree. The vehicle was destroyed so badly that the engine was torn from the car. The man was airlifted to the hospital where he remains in serious condition.
