Kings Island Roller Coaster Suit Under Way

by Administrator 16. October 2009 02:04

Thursday marked the first day in the trial between Cincinnati's Kings Island amusement park and the woman who alleges their Son of Beast roller coaster will cause her to need hip replacement surgery several times throughout her life.

The attorneys for the amusement park admit that the rollercoaster was defective when in July of 2006 it sent 27 people to the hospital.  They deny, however, the severity of injury which the woman suing them alleges.  Her attorney stated that injuries his client sustained on the Son of Beast will required many surgeries throughout her life, and that Kings Island needs to pay his client punitive damages.  According to the testamony of the woman's former boyfriend, who was in the same coaster car as the woman during the event, the lap guard clamped down on the victim when the train hit the damaged part of the track.  She cried and begged for help, and had to be rushed by ambulance to Bethesda Medical Center.

The jury is expected to hear more testimony today, and then begin deliberating.
